Vice-President of M.U.S.T Chair Professor Tam Kwong-Hang and Associate Vice-President of M.U.S.T. of Medical Sciences Division Chair Professor Zhu Yi Zhun, were interviewed by Times Higher Education Online on 20 June to share the latest developments of the Medical Sciences Division (MSD) of Macau University of Science and Technology. The interview was published in Word University Rankings 2024.
Professor Tam said in the interview that the Macau University of Science and Technology has established the first State key laboratory in the field of traditional Chinese medicine and is also the first university to offer an MBBS Programme in Macao. The University's strategic decision to establish the MSD will facilitate the synergy of medical units in academic research and disciplinary development, and with the newly established Faculty of Innovation Engineering, they will become the twin engines of the University, and jointly become a new platform for providing high-quality education and research transformation in Macao, the Greater Bay Area, and the country.
Meanwhile, Professor Tam pointed out that an interdisciplinary internationalization strategy is one of the important directions of the Macau University of Science and Technology to build a good platform that attracts talented researchers and scholars. M.U.S.T.’s ranking will be directly connected with its development and improvement which is in line with the University's strategic goals, leading the University to a higher level.
Professor Zhu Yi Zhun said in the interview that M.U.S.T. is committed to developing areas including medical science and interdisciplinary research. As Macao is one of the most densely populated regions in China, innovation in medical science and the transformation of research are crucial to promoting public health.
