On June 5, 2026, a delegation from Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), led by Vice President Paul Kwong-Hang Tam and Vice President Zhu Yi Zhun, visited Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University for high-level medical academic exchange and discussions on future collaboration. The delegation also included Professor Yan Chen from the Faculty of Medicine and Assistant Professor Bo Li from the Faculty of Medicine.

Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University is a leading National Medical Center construction unit and one of China’s prestigious high-level comprehensive research hospitals. It has significant strengths in the diagnosis and treatment of major diseases, clinical research, medical education, and translational medicine. During the visit, Zhongshan Hospital warmly welcomed the MUST delegation and arranged a tour of the hospital campus and clinical research platforms. The delegation was introduced to the hospital’s development in National Medical Center construction, research platform development, and multidisciplinary innovation.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on regenerative medicine, inflammation and immunology, innovative drug discovery, clinical research, talent development, and future collaboration mechanisms. Leaders and experts from Zhongshan Hospital presented the hospital’s expertise in major disease diagnosis and treatment, including clinical research system development, and research translation.
Professor Paul Kwong-Hang Tam delivered an overview of the history, academic development, and recent progress of MUST in medical education and scientific innovation. He noted that, since its establishment, MUST has attached great importance to high-level talent training, international education, and research platform development. In recent years, by leveraging the coordinated development of Macao and Hengqin, MUST has continued to strengthen its strategic development in precision regenerative medicine and translational medicine, actively promoting medical science and technology innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Professor Zhu Yi Zhun introduced MUST’s research foundation and platform strengths in pharmacy, inflammation and immunology, innovative drug discovery, and clinical translation.
Both sides expressed that MUST and Zhongshan Hospital have a strong foundation for collaboration in medical research, clinical translation, drug development, talent training, and multidisciplinary cooperation. Moving forward, both institutions will further leverage their respective strengths in basic research, clinical resources, translational platforms, and international talent development, and explore the establishment of a closer collaborative mechanism.

In the afternoon, the delegation attended the 64th Clinical Research Academic Salon of Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. Professor Paul Kwong Hang Tam delivered an invited lecture entitled “Liver Regenerative Medicine,” in which he presented recent advances in liver regenerative medicine and related translational research, and shared perspectives on the clinical application of regenerative medicine. Professor Zhu Yi Zhun delivered an invited lecture entitled “Discovery and Clinical Translation of Innovative Drugs for Inflammation and Immunology,” focusing on novel drug discovery, mechanisms of action, drug development, and clinical translation pathways for inflammation- and immunology-related diseases. The two lectures stimulated active discussion among participating experts and created a lively academic atmosphere.
