On 20th September 2026, Data Express in Life Digitalization (DeLD), an English academic data journal, was launched in Guangzhou. It is supervised by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), organized by the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health (GIBH), and published by Science Press. DeLD is a specialized journal within the CAS’s Data Express series, dedicated to the field of life digitalization.
The editorial board is chaired by CAS Academician, Prof. Runsheng Chen as Honorary Editor-in-Chief, GIBH Director, Prof. Fei Sun as Editor-in-Chief. Prof. Xinghua Pan from the Precision and Regenerative Medicine Centre, Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST-PRMRC) has been appointed as one of the inaugural members of the Editorial Board.
DeLD is committed to providing standardized and comprehensive “instructions” for high-value life sciences data, facilitating the transformation of research data into academic resources that are accessible, interpretable, reusable and findable academic resources. The first edition is scheduled to be issued by the end of September 2026.
The scope of “life digitalization” targeted by DeLD extends beyond the life sciences data in the traditional sense. It encompasses basic research data such as cell lineages, cell atlases, single-cell and spatial omics, and high-resolution microscopy, as well as biomedical imaging, disease-related multi-omics and omics. Additionally, it includes imaging and phenotypic data obtained from human samples during clinical research or trials, provided that these comply with ethical, informed consent and data security requirements.
