Language: Mandarin

Speaker’s Biography
Dr. Cheng earned her MD/PhD from the University of Helsinki, Finland, after completing her medical training at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. She was the associated professor (tenure-track) in Abo University in Finland before recruited to SYSU under the "Hundred Talents Program" and is recognized as a Shenzhen Overseas High-Level Talent.
Dr. Cheng’s research focuses on the development of novel immunomodulatory drugs, with a specific interest in Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) and Outer Membrane Vesicles (OMVs). She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Extracellular Vesicles (JEV), the leading journal in the field. She has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers (including nearly 30 with an Impact Factor > 10) and holds 12 authorized patents.
Her work is highly translational; she has three exosome-based drug candidates currently in Investigator-Initiated Trials (IIT) and has successfully led the development and registration of multiple Class II and Class III medical devices. She has received the China Commercial Science and Technology Innovation Award (2nd Prize) and the Guangdong Medical Technology Award (2nd Prize).

Seminar Introduction
This talk will discuss the potential of Outer Membrane Vesicles (OMVs) derived from gut microbiota as a new class of therapeutic agents. The seminar will cover key technologies in their preparation and evaluation, as well as their mechanisms in immune regulation in a couple of disease models.
Students who are interested should register on WeMust-Event.
All research staff and students are welcome to attend this seminar.
