Friendly Football Match Between MUST University Hospital and Faculty of Medicine - Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of MUST University Hospital and Forging a New Chapter in Sports Exchange

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the founding of MUST University Hospital, a spectacular friendly football match was jointly organized by MUST University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine, Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, 23 March at the Block I Football Field of Macau University of Science and Technology.

The event was attended by a distinguished roster of guests, including Chair Professor Zhu Jian Kang, President of MUST; Chair Professor Paul Kwong Hang Tam, Vice President of MUST and Chairman of Medical Sciences Division; Professor Manson Fok, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of MUST and President of University Hospital; Dr Valencia Chang Chi Wai, Director of the Medical Sciences Division of MUST, Vice President and Administrative Director of University Hospital; and Professor Nivritti Patil, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of MUST. Together with faculty, students and healthcare professionals, they witnessed this momentous occasion.

Dean Manson Fok Delivering an Opening Speech

The event commenced with an address by Dean Manson Fok. In his speech, Dean Fok reviewed the two-decade development and social service accomplishments of University Hospital, underscoring the hospital’s enduring commitment to the philosophy of integrating professional medical services with humanistic care. He further noted that the Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital have maintained reciprocal support in teaching over the years, and will further deepen collaboration in scientific research, clinical teaching and community health initiatives in the future.

Subsequently, all distinguished guests and participants posed for a group photograph. The kick-off ceremony was officiated by President Zhu Jian Kang, Vice President Paul Kwong Hang Tam, Dean Manson Fok and Dr Valencia Chang Chi Wai, officially marking the start of the match.

During the match, players from both sides demonstrated earnest competition and seamless coordination. The field witnessed exquisite passing, tactical organization and goal-scoring moments, alongside friendly interactions and gestures, fully embodying the sportsmanship of “Friendship First, Competition Second”. The audience cheered enthusiastically, fostering a joyful and harmonious atmosphere. The match ended with a 5-2 victory for the Faculty of Medicine, with President Zhu among the goalscorers.

Following the match, President Zhu presented a trophy to the winning team. Players from both sides also signed commemorative jerseys, preserving precious memories of the event.

This match served not only as an exchange of physical stamina and technical skills, but also as a vital platform for strengthening cooperation and camaraderie between University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine. Moving forward, the two parties will explore more diversified forms of exchange activities, including joint health education, research collaboration and student internship programs.
