Macau University of Science and Technology Celebrates 26th Anniversary:
International Conference on 2026 “Frontiers in Medicine” International Symposium: Future Healthcare in the Era of Science and Technology
In celebration of the 26th anniversary of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), the Medical Sciences Division held the 2026 “Frontiers in Medicine” International Symposium: Future Healthcare in the Era of Science and Technology on April 9, 2026, at R103, Block R. Distinguished experts and scholars from renowned universities in Mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, and overseas, along with representatives from government departments, academic leaders, industry professionals, and MUST faculty and students, gathered to engage in in-depth discussions on the development of medical technology and future healthcare.

In his welcoming address, Chair Professor Paul Kwong-Hang TAM, Vice President of MUST, emphasized the rapid development of medical technology and the profound impact of interdisciplinary integration and technological innovation on the healthcare sector. He highlighted that MUST has always prioritized research innovation and talent cultivation in the fields of medicine and pharmacy. The aim of the conference was to foster academic exchanges and cooperation, promote the sharing and translation of cutting-edge medical research, and contribute to addressing global health challenges and advancing medical technology.

Following this, Dr. Chen Jimin, Vice-Chairman and Secretary General of the University Council of MUST, gave the opening speech. She noted that the Macau government and MUST have long been dedicated to promoting research innovation and international collaboration in the fields of medicine and life sciences. She highlighted that this international conference brought together scholars and experts from various regions to focus on the development of medical technology and future health issues, creating an excellent platform for academic exchange and collaboration. She expressed the hope that this conference would facilitate communication and cooperation across different fields, promote medical technology innovation, and contribute to improving human health and well-being.

The conference featured keynote speeches from several distinguished scholars, including Professor SHEN Sanbing from the University of Galway, Ireland; Professor LIU Qingquan from the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Professor MA Tonghui from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine; Professor ZHANG Youming from Shandong University; Professor HUANG Yu from the City University of Hong Kong, and Professor ZI Wenjie from the Second Affiliated Hospital of the Army Medical University (Xinqiao Hospital), as well as Professors João Eurico Cabral da FONSECA and Maria Carmo FONSECA from the University of Lisbon, and Professor Márcia Gonçalves RIBEIRO from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Additionally, Professor LAU Chak-sing from the University of Hong Kong and Assistant Professor Hou Panpan from MUST presented compelling reports, sharing the latest academic trends and cutting-edge research results in the field of medicine.
