The establishment of Medical Science Division “Translational Medicine Animal Laboratory” aims to further strengthen cross-disciplinary and innovative translational research at Macau University of Science and Technology, spanning areas such as medicine, Chinese medicine, pharmacology, mechanical engineering and space science.

The laboratory coordinates and supports the animal research needs across various research groups at the university. The facilities include infrastructure for high-pressure disinfection, purified ventilation, isolated housing systems, and biosafety cabinets. The lab promotes sharing of equipment resources to improve utilization of advanced instruments across institutes, such as FUJIFILM VEVO F2 LT ultrasonic imaging device. Additionally, the lab seeks to establish collaborations with major animal research centers in mainland China for high-yield, low-cost partnerships across areas like transgenic mouse breeding, disease model establishment, and drug efficacy/toxicity testing.

Key Research Areas:

1.       Precision regenerative medicine for liver fibrosis (FMD)

2.       Effects of probiotics on glucose and lipid metabolism: functional food development(FMD)

3.       Research on drugs for the treatment of postoperative cognitive deficits caused by anesthetics(FMD)

4.       Vascular inflammation and drug intervention (SP)

5.       Tumor immunotherapy: antibody fusion protein, ADC drugs, etc(SP)

6.       Auto-immune disease research: Rheumatoid arthritis , etc (SP, SKL)
