From December 2nd to 4th, Macau hosted 12 medical students from the Catholic University of Timor-Leste for a comprehensive training programme. The three-day experience at the Medical Simulation Education Centre of the Faculty of Medicine, Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), focused on enhancing the students' medical skills through a variety of workshops.

The 4th year medical students, started with a communication workshop focusing on the importance of patient-centered practice in a series of simulation role plays. Students then received hands-on training on to cardiovascular compromise and CPR on simulators. Students got a chance to train and discuss basics of imaging using ultrasound simulators and exploration of the cross-sectional anatomy using the digital cadaver. Instruction on targeted ultrasound assessment for trauma and pelvic examinations was done. An advanced session in hand-eye coordination exercises using laparoscopy and endoscopy simulators was done. The students also delved into traditional Chinese medicine in a three-hour session. There was a session on the basics of emergency airway access led by Prof. Manson Fok, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.

Prof. Fok commented on the collaboration, stating: "In November, we received His Eminence the Cardinal of Timor-Leste, Vice-Rector of the Catholic University of Timor-Leste, who visited our university. We discussed how we can collaborate and run exchange programs, and we are very pleased to have received these 13 medical students here for intensive training. We hope that this partnership will continue for many years as a true symbol of goodwill. I also participated in some of the training sessions with them, contributing to the training in pulmonology, and it has been a very rewarding experience for us."
